History[]
Background[]
The Yeti is a mysterious creature which inhabits the Matterhorn mountain in the Swiss alps. Over the years, it has been hostile to many visitors and created a pile of trophies taken from its victims. On the May 27th of 1978, a, "Matterhorn Expedition" recovered a foot-print of the creature which was later cast in cement and placed in the nearby village. At some point, the yeti was involved in the mysterious lost, "Wells Expedition" which it kept a crate from in its cave. At another point, a sky gondola known as the, "Skyway" passed through the mountain which the yeti also attacked, possibly leading to its closure.
Development history[]
Harold's audio-animatronic was originally created for the Jungle Cruise where it was used to depict a giant gorilla which attacked guests. In 1968, the animatronic was removed and altered in 1978 to represent the yeti in a refurbishment of Matterhorn Bobsleds with a new coat of white fur and blue face designed by artist Blaine Gibson. In 2015, the original audio-animatronic was removed and replaced with a more fluid and realistic figure while Harold's original audio-animatronic would be moved to the queue of Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!.
