The Worldwide Engineering Brigade or WEB for short is an organization founded by Tony Stark. It is the central organization in the story of Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure.

Description[]

The Worldwide Engineering Brigade is an international group of young inventors and innovators brought together to collaborate technologically. The organization was established by Tony Stark of Stark Industries. WEB was also managed by an artificial intelligence called S.H.A.R.I.N. which was integrated into their tech by member Doreen Green.

In addition to receiving backing from Stark Industries, WEB was supplied with Vibranium from Wakanda, alien matter recovered by the Department of Damage Control, and Pym Particles from Hank Pym's company PYM Technologies. The Pym Tech was seemingly negotiated via Pym's successor as Ant-Man, Scott Lang.[1]

History[]

Background[]

The Worldwide Engineering Brigade was established by Tony Stark following an attack on his Stark Expo in Hong Kong following 2010. The group was made up of young engineers who he set up in an old Stark Motors building within the Avengers Campus of Orange, California. The group was provided support by different Avengers related groups, including Scott Lang who supplied them with Pym Particles in an incident which destroyed much of one of their labs, causing Tony to force Scott to help them clean up. Scott's daughter Cassie was a member who worked with Pym Technologies to create the PYM Test Kitchen on the campus.

Open House Incident[]

At an open house, Peter Parker was set to present WEB's Spider-Bots and Web Slinger vehicles. The Spider-Bots however began rapidly duplicating and threatened to destroy the campus. Peter switched into his Spider-Man alias and recruited attendees of the open house to board the Web Slingers and travel throughout the campus' utilidoor system to fight the Spider-Bots. After travelling through Pym Labs, the Collector's Fortress, and the Avengers' Quinjet bay, Spider-Man and the guests defeated the robots.

Following this incident, many campus residents were furious at Peter Parker. Cassie organized for a WEB meal at the PYM Test Kitchen in which she promised Wasp that Peter would not attend.

Trivia[]

  • Several members of WEB in the comics are members of The Champions, a team of young-adult superheroes who became disaffected with their older counterparts and decided to form their own team.
    • America Chavez is also affiliated with the Young Avengers, while Onome and Moon Girl are affiliated with the Fantastic Four and Future Foundation.
  • At Peter Parker's station is the Luxo, Jr. lamp from the Pixar short Luxo Jr. and in the display case is a keychain depicting WALL-E from the film Wall-E while playing tribute to late-Imagineer Grisol Ramirez. [6]
  • A photograph in the board shows the Stark Expo and building for the Iron Man Experience.
  • In both the comics and the films, applying PYM Particles to food and drink would be problematic due to prolonged exposure to them sometimes causing insanity in their users.
  • Both Dante and Lunella are Inhumans, a species of super-powered humans from the comics who were created by the Kree. Bruno Carelli is famously best-friends with Inhuman Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel.
  • In the comics, Spider-Bots were created by Spider-Man's reformed enemy Dr. Otto "Doctor Octopus" Octavius after he switched bodies with Peter and after absorbing his memories, became the morally-ambiguous superhero, "The Spectacular Spider-Man". Otto used the Spider-Bots to survey New York, having them transmit footage and data to his suit's lenses and phone while controlling the robots with his mind. Otto also developed larger versions for combat called, "Arachnaughts".
