Colonel James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes is a military friend of Tony Stark who was equipped with a specialized suit of armour to be the superhero, "War Machine". In the military, Rhodes would re-brand (for a time) as, "Iron Patriot". As War Machine, Rhodey was a member of the Avengers.
