The W.E.B. Open House is the conjectural name appointed to the events of Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure.

History[]

Prelude[]

The W.E.B. Workshop is a building in Avengers Campus California established by Tony Stark to guide and patron young inventors. This building was given to the Worldwide Engineering Brigade which was supplied with Vibranium from Wakanda, alien matter recovered by the Department of Damage Control, and Pym Particles from Hank Pym's company PYM Technologies. The Worldwide Engineering Brigade was also assisted by an artificial-intelligence known as S.H.A.R.I.N..

One of the projects focused on was, "Project: SL1NG//R" headed by member Peter Parker to design a, "Super Autonomous Vehicle" to be used by law-enforcement and vigilantes, inspired by Peter's vigilante alter-ego, "Spider-Man". The design was influenced by the Iron Wing of the Stark Expo and the superhero Spider-Man whose alter-ego Peter Parker was an engineer on the project. The vehicles were created with tech repurposed from this expo with a team including Harley Keener on automation, Doreen Green on AI integration, Lunella Lafayette on the vehicle's glasses system, and Onome on the vehicle's Vibranium shell.

A separate project headed by Peter Parker was the creation of his, "Spider-Bots". These were robots modelled after spiders, capable of deconstructing and reconstructing matter through plasma rays, along with rapid self-replication.

Events[]

In an unspecified year, the Worldwide Engineering Brigade hosted an, "Open House" primarily to show and test the Web Slinger vehicle. As Peter Parker was project lead, he was made host of the presentation alongside S.H.A.R.I.N.. Fellow W.E.B. member Cassie Lang was scheduled to do her showcase right after him, having invited her dad Scott "Ant-Man" Lang and his partner Hope "The Wasp" van Dyne as-well. Parker was incredibly awkward and uncharismatic with his audience, before diverting attention from the Slinger vehicles to his personal Spider-Bots.

For unknown reasons, the Spider-Bots proceeded to replicate beyond control and tear apart parts of the building with SHARIN calculating that they would destroy the campus in a matter of minutes. SHARIN attempted to contact Tony Stark for assistance, but Peter turned the idea down before leaving to switch into his Spider-Man costume. Peter went on to recruit his audience to assist him in travelling through the campus' underground utilidoors in the Slinger vehicles and stop the Spider-Bots.

The Web Slingers slowly moved through the utilidoors, parking in-front of doors which would open for the recruits to sling webs at the Spider-Bots. The first of these locations was a chemical storage dock, followed by the PYM Test Kitchen where various technologies were blown up causing a Spider-Bot to become giant from Pym Particles. This giant robot had its legs webbed up before being knocked off a platform where it was engulfed with glowing green energy. After this, the slingers stopped in the Fortress base of the villainous Taneleer "The Collector" Tivan where which Spider-Man and the recruits saved while destroying several of his tanks.

The final showdown occurred in Quinjet Hangar A-1 at the Avengers Headquarters. Here, the giant Spider-Bot reappeared with a body surging with green energy. The recruits shot at this giant Spider-Bot enough that it exploded around the time that Spider-Man had finished capturing and destroying the other Spider-Bots. After this, the recruits were finished and left with the campus left in a disarray of webs and destruction.

Aftermath[]

Many campus inhabitants were not happy with Peter due to the events of the Open House. One of the most furious appeared to be Hope van Dyne AKA The Wasp whom Peter sent multiple texts apologizing for his actions including, "OH AND SRY PLS PLS PLS DON'T TELL MR. STARK!" and, "AND SRY FOR THE MULTIPLE TEXTS! SRY." Around this same time, Cassie Lang asked Hope for permission to take multiple W.E.B. members to the Test Kitchen, promising Hope that she would not include Peter.

It is possible that a similar series of events occurred at an open house presented by Peter in the W.E.B. Facility of Avengers Campus Paris. The continuity of these events seem unclear, though it may have started on a night where they escaped the facility triggering Redwing's intruder alert. Peter's Spider-Bots would be seen running amok or webbed up through that campus' PYM Kitchen and Mission Equipment outpost.

Appearances[]

Avengers Campus (Disney California Adventure)[]

PYM Test Kitchen[]

Wasp's giant cellphone will sometimes receive texts from Peter, apologizing for his Spider-Bots destroying the test kitchen and begging her not to tell Tony Stark. Wasp will also receive texts from Cassie Lang, asking to bring the W.E.B. students over to the test kitchen and promising that Peter won't be joining them.[1] A text earlier in the timeline has Cassie excitedly ask Hope and Scott to attend her open house tech demo after Peter's, a demo which was presumably ruined or cancelled due to Peter's actions.

Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure[]

This attraction revolved around these events.

Avengers Campus (Walt Disney Studios Park)[]

The Spider-Bots notably appeared in an advertisement where Redwing identified them as, "Intruders" while Spider-Man attempted to catch them.[2]

Mission Equipment[]

Spider-Bots are webbed up in this store.

PYM Kitchen[]

Escaped Spider-Bots can be seen messing with Pym Tech technology, occasionally being grown or shrunk.

Spider-Man WEB Adventure[]

This attraction shows a recreation of Web Slingers' events, however set later in the timeline due to the Avengers Campus Paris setting but still showing locations from Avengers Campus California. Because of this, the events of this version of the attraction are likely not fully cannon.

Trivia[]

  • In the queue, there post-cards from Washington DC and St. Mark's Basilica reference Peter's travels in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home where he fought the Vulture and Mysterio respectively. This could imply the attraction takes place after (at least the park's versions of) these events.
  • Some of the stray Spider-Bots in Avengers Campus Paris might be explained by Cassie Lang's place-mats as being escaped rogue Spider-Bots.
