The Valkyrie Plane or simply The Valkyrie s a vehicle from the movie Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).
Description[]
The Valkyrie was a HYDRA aircraft made for Johann Schmidt AKA The Red Skull to bomb the world with Tesseract powered weaponry. After being commandeered by Captain America, it was left frozen in the Arctic Ocean for decades.
History[]
The Valkyrie was made for HYDRA and the Red Skull and was named for the Valkyries of Norse myth, which Red Skull was obsessed with. Towards the end of World War II, Red Skull equipped the Valkyrie with Tesseract powered weaponry in an effort to destroy his enemies. Captain America made his way onto the plane, defeated Red Skull and then sacrificed himself to crash the plane into the Arctic Ocean.
Captain America's allies at the Strategic Scientific Reserve made many efforts to locate the Valkyrie. It wasn't until the 21st century that Cap's body and the Valkyrie were found and recovered by the SSR's successor, SHIELD.
