Thor Odinson known more simply Thor or The Mighty Thor is an Asgardian god and superhero of Earth.
History[]
Background[]
Thor is the son of Odin, the mystical king of the realm of Asgard and his sorceress wife Frigga. He was raised alongside his adoptive-brother, the mischievous Jotunn, Loki. Thor was groomed to be Odin's heir and God of Thunder while Loki grew up in Thor's shadow. Thor and Loki also befriended warriors Lady Sif and the Warriors Three: Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg. These Asgardians were legendary warriors, with Thor, Loki and Sif becoming figures in Earth's Norse mythology.
Due to a combination of Thor's arrogance, and Loki's machinations, Odin banished Thor to Earth to learn humility and become worthy. Odin modified Thor's uru hammer Mjölnir to only be lifted if Thor became worthy. On Earth, Thor became familiar with human scientist Dr. Jane Foster whom he became lovers with. In fighting Loki's schemes to overthrow the throne of Asgard and defeating Loki's robot The Destroyer, Thor proved himself worthy of Mjölnir and regained his ability to use the weapon and return to Asgard.
The Avengers[]
Thor tracking down his lost brother lead to him crossing paths with SHIELD and various of Earth's mightiest heroes whom were also hunting Loki as the trickster had stolen their Asgardian Cosmic Cube, the Tesseract in an attempt to conquer Earth. Thor and SHIELD's recruited heroes formed the Avengers together and foiled Loki's plan to summon an army of Thanos' alien Chitauri over New York City and invade the Earth. Following this, Loki was arrested by Thor and brought back to Asgard to be imprisoned.
The Dark World[]
Thor was present when Asgard was attacked by the Dark Elves, lead by Malekith the Accursed around 2013. The Dark Elves murdered Thor and Loki's mother, Frigga in this attack. Because of this, Thor let Loki out of imprisonment so that they could travel to the Dark World and prevent Malekith from casting the universe into darkness.
Following this incident, Odin had Dr. Jane Foster organize an exhibit on Asgard in Tomorrowland to promote peace between the realms. The keeper of Asgard's bifrost, Heimdall, created a portal connecting this exhibit in the Tomorrowland Expo Center to the throne-room of Asgard.
Battle of Sokovia[]
Thor was one of the Avengers who fought the robot Ultron and his sentries in the Battle of Sokovia around 2015.
Stark Expo France[]
At some point in time, Thor was invited by Tony Stark to attend a Stark Expo in Paris. Thor was present at the expo along with superheroes Spider-Man and Black Widow, to entertain guests in Tony Stark's absence. Here, Tony Stark presented a new Arc Reactor created in collaboration with the nation of Wakanda to be more efficiently and powerfully built with the metal vibranium.
However, Loki began using his mind altering sceptre to manipulate the superheroes into fighting one-another so that he could steal the arc reactor. While Thor was initially able to overpower Loki, this turned out to be just the precursor to a larger attack from Red Skull and HYDRA who joined forces with Loki to trade the arc reactor with Red Skull's Casket of Ancient Winters. Red Skull gave Loki the casket, allowing the trickster to freeze and incapacitate all of the superheroes present.
Red Skull subsequently betrayed Loki, only for Black Widow to contact the superhero Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel showed up and was able to overcome the casket's power, before disintegrating Red Skull. After this, Thor arrested Loki.
Avengers Campus[]
Thor was one of the superheroes who supported Tony Stark's Global Avengers Initiative. Starting in 2016, Thor was one of the professors at the Super Hero Academy where he taught young recruits Asgardian Lore. Following its construction in 2019, Thor was one of the superheroes who used the Avengers Campus in Orange, California as a base. Thor could often be seen alongside his brother, Loki at the campus.
For a time, Thor was affiliated with the Guardians of the Galaxy. At one point, Thor's hammer was shattered, presumably by the goddess of death, Hela. Following this event, Dr. Jane Foster became worthy of wielding Mjölnir and used a magically reassembled version of it to become, "The Mighty Thor". It is likely that she and Thor joined forces to fight the alien Gorr the God Butcher.
