Behind the scenes[]
The Mary Janes were established under the name of Murderface in the reality of Earth-65. The group was co-founded by Mary "Em" Jane Watson and her girlfriend Glory Grant when they were stuck in detention together and first started dating. The group's drummer would be MJ's close friend Gwen Stacy as the two planned on getting famous off of music together. Gwen however was an unreliable member of the group due to her secretly being the superhero Spider-Woman, making MJ falsely believe that she hated her.
The group found success but was ultimately forced to break up due to Gwen being banished to Earth-616 by the villainous celebrities Susan Storm and Johnny Storm. Mary Jane herself was also kidnapped and sent to this reality where she reunited with Gwen and briefly became the super-villainess, "Carnage". Ultimately Gwen was able to save MJ from herself and the symbiote which she was bonded to.
Trivia[]
- In the comics, Betty Brant was a member of the group who played bass. Betty has been referenced at Walt Disney Studios Park's, "Meet Spider-Man".[3]
