The Buena Vista Bugle is a fictitious newspaper tied into the backstory of Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. Souvenir newspapers of inconsistent continuity have sometimes been given to guests, providing in-universe promotions and news stories on Disney California Adventure's offerings. Some of the newspaper's stories have covered characters and entities from Marvel, as they have pertained to Disney California Adventure.
Description[]
The Buena Vista Bugle was a newspaper active around the 1920s-1940s. The paper got its name from being based out of Buena Vista Street in Los Angeles, California. The Bugle predominately revolved around the news of this neighbourhood, but also covered stories across California; notably in Hollywood, Grizzly Peak, and Paradise Pier.

History[]
The Buena Vista Bugle was active in the 1920s and appears to have continued at-least into the 1940s.
Marvel connections[]
The newspaper had some articles referencing Marvel characters. In Volume 5, Issue 3 there was the article, "Heroes Welcome! Captain America and Spider-Man descend on Hollywood Land April 3!". This article had a photographed picture of Captain America saluting while the article's text referred to him as, "That Pinnacle of Patriotism", coming to Hollywood Land on a mission where he is assisted by Spider-Man. Above this article, Captain America was mentioned by 1920s/1930s Los Angeles resident, "Donna the Dog Lady" in a letter to the editor, calling him a, "Dashing hero" who she wants to hear about. [1]
In Volume 5, Issue 4, the "Supers Sighted! Heroes Heralded" section dedicated to celebrity sightings showed photographs of Captain America and Spider-Man. In this same edition was a story by, "Mirna the Fashion Maven" promoting Marvel superhero based outfits with references to Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, and a statement that her fashion scoop was one, "even J. Jonah Jameson would envy".[2]
Other connections[]
A Bug's Land[]
The newspaper had some stories covering A Bug's Land and its characters. One notable of which being, "Entomologists Magnify Bizarre Bug Colony", covering how a group of entomologists discovered Flik's Fun Fair outside of Buena Vista Street.[3] Flik and Princess Atta also appeared as, "Sweethearts" in the celebrities spotted section while Hopper appeared in a different issue as a, "Villain on the Town".[4][5]
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror[]
Many articles in the newspaper tied into the backstory of the Hollywood Tower Hotel and the Silver Lake Sisters. These were of generally stronger continuity than the Marvel articles, due to having a more cohesive setting with early 20th century Los Angeles, and already having a backstory tied in with Buena Vista Street. In Mortimer's Market there are a box of 1920s editions of the paper with a story on the Hollywood Tower Hotel's construction.
Trivia[]
- The newspaper has referred to superheroes/super-humans as, "Supers", a nickname for super-humans from the film The Incredibles (2004). The, "Supers Sighted! Heroes Heralded" article showed Captain America and Spider-Man alongside Elastigirl from this film.[6]
- While the anachronisms in the newspaper make its articles on Marvel heroes be of dubious canonicity, some references to Captain America could be more plausible due to how he became a superhero in early World War 2.
