Taneleer Tivan, also known as the Collector, is renowned as the keeper of the Tivan Collection, the largest collection of interstellar fauna, relics and species in the galaxy.
History[]
Background[]
The Collector is an alien Elder of the Universe who travels the galaxy within a teleporting fortress to collect artifacts and organisms while also showing them off to the populace. He was close with fellow Elder of the Universe En Dwi Gast AKA The Grandmaster. The Collector acquired the technology for his fortress from the evil alien corporation X-S Tech of which he affiliated with the leader of, L.C. Clench. The Collector's main income comes from controlling the mining of organic matter in Knowhere, the severed head of a Celestial, floating in space.
Avengers Campus[]
Tivan travelled to Earth in the 2010s, following a mysterious figure that his bounty-hunter Jeutar Mörat observed travelled to the planet. It is presumed that this figure was the Celestial, Eson the Searcher who travelled to Earth around 2014 to try and steal the Nova Corps' Cosmic Generator, only to be defeated by the Guardians of the Galaxy.
By 2019, Tivan made a deal with Tony Stark to park his fortress in Stark's Avengers Campus California. Tivan promised to bring his fortress to Avengers Campus California and educate Earth's populace on his collection, and explained this at a demo where he also showed off a caged alien Vyloo.[1]
While in the Campus, the Collector sent out various spam texts for promotions in the general area. During residency in Avengers Campus, the fortress was overrun by the rogue, "Spider-Bots" of W.E.B. member Peter Parker who used his Spider-Man moniker to infiltrate the fortress via the campus' utilidoors, and pacify the robots in webbing. The Collector contacted Avengers member Scott Lang AKA Ant-Man and stated that he liked Scott's ideas and wanted to discuss them over, "Sakaaran Cold Brew". It was likely that this was a trap set up by the Collector though the outcome of this incident is unknown.
Mission: BREAKOUT![]
Tivan invited Star-Lord of the Guardians of the Galaxy to attend with promise of a free tour. Tivan proceeded to kidnap the guardians for his collection and put them on display as his main attraction but failed in capturing their fellow member, Mantis. During their imprisonment, Star-Lord and Gamora sent messages for help to Avengers member Wasp while Rocket managed to send out an S.O.S. signal to the California area.
After escaping containment, Rocket Raccoon debriefed these contacts in the Collector's Office and orchestrated a plan to knock-out the fortress' generators by connecting it to Star-Lord's Walkman and using their guest ID hand-scans to hack into the system. This released all of the creatures in the Collector's possession while the Guardians escaped in their ship the Milano as piloted by Mantis, accompanied by Cosmo the Space-Dog. The Collector and his subordinates were left in the building as it was overrun with monsters.
