Cassandra "Cassie" Lang is a marvel comics character who first appeared in 1979's Marvel Premiere #47. She is also the superhero Stature, in the comics being a member of the Young Avengers who would later take on the alias of Stinger.
History[]
Background[]
Origins[]
Cassie Lang is the daughter of ex-convict turned thief Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man. After learning about the Pym Particles designed by Hank Pym to grow and shrink matter, Cassie came up with an idea to use it to reduce food-waste and maximize food production to make a more sustainable food system. This idea was first executed in the Pym Test Kitchen of Avengers Campus in Orange, California during the 2010s as part of Tony Stark's Avengers Campus initiative. Scott's partner Hope van Dyne would be close to Cassie and have a surrogate mother-like role in her life, and Hope's own mother Janet became a grandmother figure to Cassie.
Wordwide Engineering Brigade[]
In Avengers Campus, Cassie was also a member of the Worldwide Engineering Brigade AKA WEB. Cassie had a locker at WEB's base which was equipped with a miniature door and indications that she was shrinking herself and/or training ants in her father's vain. Cassie experimented in engineering and also made updates to the tech used by Ant-Man and the Wasp, and designed a, "Quantum Bug" device.
Cassie was developing a project presentation around the time of the WEB open house that Peter Parker used to demo the, "Web Slinger" vehicles, and was set to present after him. Cassie was excited about this presentation and texted Hope asking her to attend, and to make sure that her father arrived on time. However, Peter Parker shifted what was supposed to be a Web Slinger team-project to showcasing his personal-project the, "Spider-Bots" who subsequently ran amok throughout Avengers Campus with the threat to destroy it. Peter then recruited attendees of the Open House to leave through the utilidoors and help him stop all the robots, presumably resulting in Cassie's presentation being ruined or cancelled.
Later history[]
After the Open House incident, Cassie asked Hope if she could bring W.E.B. friends to the PYM Test Kitchen while promising Peter was not amongst them. Another idea created by Cassie was to use PYM Tech, "Quantum Cores" to transport and grow foods. This idea was demonstrated at the, "Avengers Technology Showcase" aboard the Disney Wish by Scott and Hope.
As a young woman, Cassie became the tech-based super heroine known as, "Stature". She would be seen working alongside her father as a hero in Avengers Campus.
Appearances and allusions[]
Avengers Assemble: Flight Force[]
Cassie is listed as a Pym Tech member.
Avengers Campus (DCA)[]
Cassie has made live-appearances at the park in-line with her appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
PYM Test Kitchen[]
Mounted art and messages of the kitchen's history identify Cassie as having come up with the idea for the establishment. The original art and design proposing the test kitchen made by Cassie is also hung on the wall.[1] The Menus have illustrations made by Cassie.
Wasp will sometimes recieve text-messages from Cassie visible from the menu screen which is Janet's enlarged phone.[2] These texts mention Cassie's upcoming project at WEB, her updates to Ant-Man and Wasp's helmets, and asking if she could bring fellow members of WEB to the kitchen (with the exclusion of Peter).
Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure[]
Cassie is referenced as being one of the members of the Worldwide Engineering Brigade. Her locker appears in the interior-queue of the attraction, between those of Peter Parker and Amadeus Cho while underneath that of Anya Corazon. Texts at the Pym Test Kitchen imply that Cassie was present in the building during the events of the attraction.
Web Suppliers[]
The, "Quantum Bug" web-shooter attachment is designed by Cassie Lang.[3][4]
Avengers Campus (WDSP)[]
PYM Kitchen[]
Cassie Lang's signature appears on the placemats. She is also still part of the restaurant's fictitious backstory.
Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure[]
Cassie Lang has a locker in the W.E.B. facility, similar to in Web-Slingers.
Marvel Super Hero Academy[]
On the Disney Wish, there is an office/lab space being used by Pym affiliated characters. On the wall is a piece of paper proposing the use of Quantum Cores to grow food, drawn in the same style as Cassie's proposals hung up at the PYM Test Kitchen. This implies Cassie to be connected to the plot of Avengers: Quantum Encounter. There is also a, "World's Greatest Grandma" trophy, presumably left by Cassie for Janet.[5]
Trivia[]
- In both the comics and the films, applying PYM Particles to food and drink would be problematic due to prolonged exposure to them sometimes causing insanity in their users.
