Star-Lord, real name Peter Quill, is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

History[]

Background[]

Peter Quill was born in 1980 to Meredith Quill with his biological father being the evil celestial, Ego the Living Planet. As a young boy, he visited the Epcot Center where he developed nostalgia for the park and took a photo outside of Spaceship Earth. On this trip, he went on the attractions Universe of Energy, Horizons and Kitchen Kabaret.

Peter's mother died of cancer and he was later abducted by the alien, "Ravager", Yondu Udonta to bring to Peter's evil alien father, only to decide to raise the boy for his own instead. The only main item from Earth which Quill had in his possession was a SONY walkman and mixtapes from his mother.

Guardians of the Galaxy[]

Peter became the intergalactic outlaw, "Star-Lord" who commit crimes in his spaceship The Milano, named for childhood crush Alyssa Milano. Peter would cross paths with fellow intergalactic criminals Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot and the group saved the planet Xandar from Ronan the Accuser causing them to be pardoned by the Nova Corps and ordained, "The Guardians of the Galaxy".

Cosmic Rewind[]

When Nova Corps asked him for suggestions on where to establish a Xandarian Embassy on Earth, Peter suggested going to Epcot based on his childhood memories of EPCOT pavilions. Quill spoke on the Guardians' defeat of Ronan and establishment of the Xandarian Outpost on the news show, Good Morning Xandar.

The Guardians of the Galaxy were contacted again by the Nova Corps when one of their ships in Earth's orbit was attacked by the Celestial, Eson the Searcher who stole their Cosmic Generator. As the ship had no power, Rocket suggested that they use Terrans being transported from EPCOT to follow Eson the Searcher in Starjumpers while the Guardians assisted from The Milano.

The Guardians and the Terrans followed Eson the Searcher through a portal leading to the Big Bang and pursued throughout events of cosmic history. Ultimately, Eson was trapped in an energy net created by various Star Blaster ships of the Nova Corps. After this, the Terrans returned to EPCOT and the Guardians sent them hologram messages, thanking them and naming them (honorary) members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Adventures[]

At some point, the Guardians expanded their roster to include the alien empath, Mantis. This may have occurred when Peter and the Guardians met his evil biological father, Ego, whom Mantis may have worked for.

The guardians became acquainted to some capacity with the Avengers, a team of superheroes on Earth. Namely, Quill and Gamora befriended Hope van Dyne AKA "The Wasp". Quill also became familiar with Tony Stark AKA Iron Man who nicknamed him, "Footloose" and was aware of an incident when Star-Lord fell for the bait of the Collector, Taneleer Tivan.

Mission: BREAKOUT![]

At some point, Peter was invited to the Fortress of, Taneleer Tivan only for this to be a trap. All of the Guardians but Mantis were captured by the Collector and put on display in the fortress. Rocket managed to escape his tank and send out a help signal in California where the fortress had set up base. While locked away, Star-Lord and Gamora attempted texting the Wasp for help in breaking them out but nothing came of this plan.

Rocket and these guests managed to hack into the fortress' systems using Star-Lord's walkman and free everything in the Collector's possession. The Guardians fought off many of the creatures in the fortress before escaping in the Milano, piloted by Mantis. The team briefly had to return to the fortress when they realized that they had left behind Baby Groot, but saved him and fled again.

Awesome Dance-Off![]

Star-Lord returned to the Fortress again with Gamora in search of his boom-box, still in the Collector's Possession. While in the campus, he and Gamora learned the Collector was tracking them from anywhere on Earth using thermo-sensors. To scramble the sensors, Star-Lord got a group of the Terrans at Avengers Campus to start dancing around him and Gamora while playing music. When this didn't work, Rocket advised them to overload the sensors instead, with Star-Lord did by inciting a Dance-Off. After overloading the sensors, Star-Lord and Gamora left though an adult Groot chose to stay behind with the Terrans for a while.

At some point, Star-Lord brought Mantis to Earth for the first time, outside of the collector's fortress in Avengers Campus. Here, the two used an, "Awesome Dance Off" to try and recruit new guardians, before leaving with Rocket.

Avengers Campus Paris[]

The Guardians of the Galaxy travelled to Avengers Campus Paris to look for new recruits. Here, they were detected and welcomed by the campus' artificial-intelligence F.R.I.D.A.Y.. Star-Lord rejected Gamora's idea to look for new recruits via a fight to the death, instead choosing to challenge them to a dance-off. When F.R.I.D.A.Y. played Tony Stark's inspirational playlist for music, Star-Lord had Rocket Racoon hack the system, causing a campus-wide alert to play Quill's soundtrack instead.

When FRIDAY eventually regained control, she sternly informed the Guardians that Stark wants to meet with them at headquarters, leading to the guardians instead choosing to flee. After this, Rocket hacks FRIDAY again to download their playlist and state, "Star-Lord is Awesome", playing one last song as the Guardians make their get-away.

  • For comedic effect, Quill is frequently referred to as being leader of the Guardians though he does not actually hold this status and is amongst the least intelligent and most immature members of the team.
  • Star-Lord's boombox has a sticker depicting a shooting-star with the colours of the bisexual pride flag, seemingly referencing how his character is canonically bisexual in the comics.
