  • Mission: BREAKOUT replaced fan-favourite attraction The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The general shape of the building remains the same albeit with architecture and artwork inspired by the work of comic book legend Jack Kirby (1917- 1994).
  • Surrounding the fortress is an alien goop made to resemble, "Kirby Crackle", an iconic design feature used by Jack Kirby.
  • Some of the Kirby Crackle forms a, "Hidden Mickey".[1]
  • A flipped metal attachment on the side of the fortress makes a, "Hidden Mickey".[2]
  • Totem poles outside the entrance have the designs of the Guardians of the Galaxy hidden on their base.
  • The Collector's statue shows him stroking an Orloni.
  • There is a hole in the side of the building where it appears Rocket Raccoon attempted to escape.
  • The Collector's garden is called, "Gardens of the Galaxy".
    • The plants listed are actually real plants.
  • One of the Collector's audio artifacts played in the garden is Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address.
    • This may be in tribute to how Abraham Lincoln was Disney's first human audio-animatronic figure.
    • Lincoln was also Walt Disney's favourite president.
  • Another one of the Collector's audio artifacts is audio from the Voyager space shuttle launch.
  • Garden gnomes appear in the garden. One was an Asgardian Garden Gnome made by imagineer Joe Rohde.

Interior queue[]

Museum[]

  • Alien writing near the entrance reads, "The Tivan Group is not responsible for guests accidentally consumed by any rare creature or beast, or for any guests who might inadvertently wander into an empty cage and find themselves inexplicably trapped. Although you are guaranteed a visit to see the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Tivan Group is not responsible if the Guardians are unresponsive or asleep. By reading this, you grant approval for the Tivan Group to own your biosigns and do with them as they wish forever and ever in perpetuity throughout this and any other galaxy both known and unknown. Enjoy your tour.".[3]
  • Several of the Collector's acquisitions are repurposed props from Innoventions. Those relating to Thor came from an area themed around being an exhibit curated by Dr. Jane Foster.
  • The, "Cocoon of Unknown Origin" is implied to be the cocoon of superhero Adam Warlock. A similar cocoon appeared in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2.
  • The, "Asgardian War Hammer" is Beta Ray Bill's hammer, "Stormbreaker" from the comics. The hammer was later brought into the MCU as a hammer of Thor.
  • In one of the tanks along the roof is Figment, a Disney character from the defunct EPCOT attraction Journey Into Imagination.
  • The tank containing Vyloo originally contained Rocket Raccoon's blaster.
  • Ultron can be heard saying quotes from the film Avengers: Age of Ultron, implying him to still be active.
  • The metal skull in a tank hung from the ceiling is the head of Transformers/Marvel character Death's Head.
  • The, "Mysterious Artifacts" are implied to come from Atlantis. In the comics, Atlantis is ruled over by the golden-age anti-hero Namor the Submariner.
    • The symbols on the Atlantean ruins in Mission: BREAKOUT! somewhat resemble Kree writing.[4]
    • According to imagineer Joe Rohde, the design of the ruins was inspired by an Antikythera mechanism shown in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) implied to be used for harnessing the Infinity Stones. Rohde described the ruins as a mechanism which has yet to be activated.[5]
  • The book in the Dark Elf display is the Book of Yggdrasil from Thor: The Dark World. The dark-matter dagger belonged to the Thor villain Malekith the Accursed.
  • The crystals in the Kree display are Terrigen Crystals, a crystal which is used to awaken the dormant superpowers of Inhumans. Also in the display are an orb used for communication, and a bladed Kree Diviner/Obelisk. These props are taken from the TV show, Agents of SHIELD.
  • The Asgardian War Hammer, Warlock's Eye and Dark Elf artifacts come from Thor comics. The Brazier of Bom'Galiath and Crystal of Conquest come from Doctor Strange comics.
  • There is a portrait showing the Collector alongside the Grandmaster as he appeared in Thor: Ragnarok. This is as in the comics, the two are, "Brothers" and both Elders of the Universe.
  • The masks on the wall depict various Celestials. This includes Eson the Searcher, Arishem The Judge, Gammenon the Gatherer, Jemiah the Analyzer and Ziran the Tester.
  • The weapons on the wall belong to the Warriors Three and Lady Sif.

Pre-Show Video[]

  • In the background are tanks containing Howard the Duck and a Kronan.
  • On the Collector's desk is a maquette of the Hellhound from the Haunted Mansion.
  • The old man in the tank asking for parking is Stan Lee, a historic American comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer who made cameos in various Marvel properties up until his death in 2018, a year after Mission: BREAKOUT! opened.
  • Drax's species is listed as, "Unknown" as in the comics, Drax is not actually an alien but is rather a human with superpowers.

Collector's Office[]

  • There is a back-up pre-show video which will play if the Rocket Raccoon audio-animatronic is non-functional.
  • On the wall are the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak as they appeared in the movie Doctor Strange.
    • In the comics, Cyttorak is most commonly affiliated with the X-Men villain the Juggernaut.
  • Mounted on the wall is a famous, "Living Fossil" fish known as a coelacanth.
  • There are various props within the Collector's shelves:
  • Several of the Collector's books contain references:
    • The book, "Migration Patterns of Earth's Avifauna" by Rohde is a tribute to celebrated imagineer Joe Rohde who assisted in developing Mission: BREAKOUT! as his final attraction for Disney. The title of the book may reference Rohde's work for Disney's Animal Kingdom.[8]
    • The book A Far Cry From the Top Floor is a tribute to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The title of the book references how in the attraction, elevators headed for the top floor of the Hollywood Tower Hotel found themselves in the 5th Dimension while the book's font imitates the title of the ride.
    • The book, "A Children's Guide to the North American Raccoon" references the Collector's treatment of Rocket Raccoon.[9]
  • On the Collector's desk is an invoice from X-S Tech, signed by company chairman L.C. Clench. Both of these are villainous characters from the defunct Tomorrowland horror attraction ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. The services which X-S provides on the invoice are those which were listed in said attraction.
  • Overtop of the X-S invoice is a letter from Taneleer Tivan to a alien bounty-hunter named Jeutar Mörat, an enemy of the Guardians of the Galaxy from the comics. The letter identifies Tivan as travelling to Earth due to Jeutar following a mysterious figure there. It is currently believed that this references the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind where Eson the Searcher travels to Earth in pursuit of the Nova Corps' Cosmic Generator.
  • In 2024's Pixar Fest, a miniature Pizza Planet truck from Toy Story was added to the Collector's Office with a dark palette, lightning paint, "E=MC2" written on its side and "HTH Do Not Disturb" tag as a tribute to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.[10]
