Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is an Indiana Jones themed dining-service in Walt Disney World's Disney Springs. The bar contains allusions to Marvel Comics and Marvel theme-park continuity.

History[]

Backstory[]

Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar was established in the Florida town of Disney Springs in the year 1955. The barkeep and founder was aviator Jock Lindsey, a stunt pilot from the 1920s and ally to Indiana Jones in the 30s who settled down in Disney Springs for a quiet life with his pet snake, Reggie.

Marvel connections[]

IronFireman

The keys of Howard Stark appear in the lost & found of this bar, labelled as, "Howard S.". Also in the bar is a sign reading, "The Iron Fireman" with the word, "Fire" blotted out so it says, "Iron Man" along with the design of a man in an iron suit.[1]

Other connections[]

Skipper Canteen[]

Jock Lindsey and his pet snake Reggie have their toolbox left in the Skipper Canteen. Jock Lindsey's hangar bar also contains references to the backstory of the Jungle Cruise, which the Skipper Canteen is based on.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror[]

Different Disney Spring establishments have references to the film The Rocketeer (1991), including memorabilia from the fictional South Seas Club appearing in Jock Lindsey's Bar. This club was also performed in by the Silver Lake Sisters, three characters from the Tower of Terror franchise.

Trivia[]

  • The references to Marvel and Howard Stark may be in tribute to Lucasfilm Ltd. alumnus Joe Johnston who directed Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and The Rocketeer (1991), both of which are referenced in Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar.
  • Howard Stark's film inspiration Howard Hughes is also referenced as having attended the Hangar Bar.
