Janet van Dyne is the original superhero and founding Avengers member/leader known as The Wasp from Marvel Comics. In the MCU and theme-parks, she is aged-up and replaced by her otherwise obscure alternate-universe daughter, Hope van Dyne.
History[]
Janet van Dyne was the wife of Pym Tech founder, Hank Pym. The two used his creation the Pym Particles to shrink and act as the superheroes, "Ant-Man" and, "The Wasp". The two had a daughter together named Hope van Dyne, before Janet disappeared, presumably being lost in the Quantum Realm on a mission. By around the 2020s, Janet resurged as a member of Pym Tech and grandmother figure to Cassie Lang, the daughter of the new Ant-Man, Scott Lang.
Appearances[]
Avengers Assemble: Flight Force[]
Janet is on a list of Avengers allies, categorized under Pym Tech.
D23[]
Janet was mentioned as the Wasp in Hope's introduction to the PYM Test Kitchen.[1]
Marvel Super Hero Academy[]
There is a, "World's Greatest Grandma" trophy implied to be given to Janet by Cassie.[2]
Trivia[]
- Hope van Dyne is not the Wasp's daughter in mainstream Marvel continuity, instead originating from the non-canonical, "MC2". In mainstream comics, her daughter is Champions member Nadia van Dyne AKA, "The Wicked Wasp" or, "The Unstoppable Wasp". This character is not Janet's biological daughter, rather from Hank Pym's first-marriage and raised in the abusive Red Room as an assassin after her mother's murder before escaping with smuggled Pym Particles and was subsequently adopted by Janet.
