Harley Keener is a character from the film Iron Man 3 (2013).

History

Background

Harley Keener was a young boy from Rose Hill, Tennessee who enjoyed trying to create potato-guns. In 2012, he happened upon Tony Stark who was in hiding from Advanced Idea Mechanics, leading to Harley keeping him in his garage to recover. Harley learned from Stark and after Stark returned to well-being, sent Harley equipment to hone in his skills.

Years later, Harley was enlisted by Stark's organization the Worldwide Engineering Brigade in the Avengers Campus of Orange, California. Here, Harley furthered developing his potato-guns and attended the Stark Expo in Hong Kong with fellow member, Doreen Green. Inspired by the Iron Wing of the Stark Expo, Harley and Doreen developed the Web Slinger vehicles alongside fellow WEB members Lunella Lafayette, Onome and Peter Parker. His primary contribution was the automation system behind the vehicles.

Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure

Harley is referenced as one of the WEB members behind the creation of the WEB slinger. A board mentioning potato gun malfunctions in WEB also indirectly alludes to Harley. His locker is visible in the interior-queue with stickers for Stark Industries and Iron Man on it, located in-between the lockers of Miles Morales and Anya Corazon. Harley's work-station is visible in the pre-show area where he has sticky-notes, a crate of potatoes and a potato-gun out. He is mentioned on a flyer for the Web Battle Ultimate Battle Potluck as having s Spider Bot used for fighting that of Peter Parker.

• On the bulletin-board is a photograph of Harley and Doreen outside of the Iron Man Experience in Hong Kong Disneyland.
• Different proposed names for Harley's potato guns contain Disney related puns like, "Spud Slinger", "Spud Lightyear", "Darth Tater", "Air Spud", "Starch Industries", "C3-PO-TA-TO" and "SPUDer-Man".
• Harley is the only known member of WEB to originate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe rather than Marvel Comics.
