Edwin Jarvis is a character from Marvel comics. He was the butler to Howard Stark and Tony Stark, surrogate father to Tony after Howard's death, and inspiration for the artificial-intelligence, "Jarvis".
History[]
Edwin Jarvis was the loyal butler to Howard Stark, the head of Stark Industries. He would frequent the Stark Industrial Complex in Orange, California. After Howard and Maria were assassinated by the Winter Soldier for HYDRA, Edwin was left to raise their son Tony. In the 1980s, Tony graduated from MIT at age 17 and created the advanced A.I. butler, "J.A.R.V.I.S." (Just a Rather Very Intelligent System) based on Edwin. This AI was considered to be the most advanced AI in the world at the time and was a tribute to the butler after Edwin's demise.[1]
