Dark Elves are a fictional humanoid species in Marvel Comics, loosely based on the Svartálfar (Old Norse: Swarthy Elves) of Norse mythology.

Description[]

Dark Elves are a highly endangered humanoid species, native to the, "Dark World" of Svartalfheim. They were pale with pointed ears and often wore white masks made to resemble faces of the more attractive species which they once were. Some of their weaponry was forged from Dark Matter, giving it unique properties.

History[]

Background[]

Dark Elves are a species which was supposedly born from the darkness from before the Big Bang which formed the universe. Dark Elves were once highly attractive and noble but the Big Bang caused much of the darkness they lived in to be cast out, resulting in them hiding in the shadows and evolving into more horrific creatures. Due to this, they began a mission to cast the universe back into the darkness.

The Dark Elves were able to harness the Reality Stone into a vessel known as, "The Aether" which could be used as a weapon. In their crusade, the Dark Elves did battle with the gods of Asgard under King Bor where they were mostly killed off. The Dark Elves were believed to have been extinct although some managed to survive. Asgard's Book of Yggdrasil spoke of a prophecy in which predicted a massive battle between the Dark Elves and the Asgardians.

The Dark World[]

Around 2013, the Dark Elves resurged under the leadership of Malekith the Accursed. Malekith lead a violent attack on Asgard where they crossed paths with Thor, Lady Sif, Heimdall and the Warriors Three. Malekith's plans were ultimately foiled by Thor.
