Steven Grant "Steve" Rogers is a superhero, known as Captain America.

History[]

Background[]

Steve Rogers was a weak New Yorker born in 1918. His best friend growing up was James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes and at adulthood, he weighed at 95 pounds at the height of 5'4''. Steve suffered from asthma, scoliosis, fallen arches, stomach ulcers, partial deafness, heart arrhythmia, pernicious anemia and astigmatic eyes.[1] Despite his physical shortcomings, Steve made desperate attempts to enroll with the army to fight the Nazis oversees in World War II.

From Camp Lehigh, Steve was enlisted for a secret experiment arranged by the Strategic Scientific Reserve. Here, scientists Abraham Erskine and Howard Stark injected Rogers with an experimental, "Super Soldier Serum" which made him 6'2'', 200 pounds, muscular with enhanced strength, have 20/20 vision, and enhanced physical capabilities. Shortly after being exposed to the super soldier serum, Erskine was murdered by an agent of the nazi agency HYDRA, causing the serum's recipe to be lost.

World War II[]

Steve joined the war and was known as, "Captain America" and equipped with a shield made of Vibranium designed by Howard Stark. His main allies during World War II included Howard Stark, SSR agent Peggy Carter, Bucky Barnes, and Cap's, "Howling Commandos". Together, they fought the nazis, HYDRA, and the HYDRA leader Johann "Red Skull" Schmidt. During this time, Bucky was lost in action off the side of a Nazi train and was presumed dead.

Near the end of the war, Red Skull planned to use a weapon of mass destruction on New York, powered by the cosmic cube, "The Tesseract". Cap infiltrated the Red Skull's HYDRA aircraft and defeated the nazi. In order to prevent the weapon from destroying New York, Steve intentionally crashed the vehicle into the Arctic Ocean. Here, a combination of the icy waters and his super-soldier serum enhanced physiology caused Steve to be cryonically frozen for decades while the outside world presumed him to be dead.

The Avengers[]

In the 2000s/2010s, the frozen aircraft was discovered by a team of scientists. Cap was revived under director Nick Fury of the SSR's successor organization, SHIELD. In 2011, he was enlisted for Fury's, "Avengers Initiative" which assembled various extraordinary individuals to fight the Norse god Loki who had stolen the Tesseract to use as a portal to invade Earth with an army of Chitauri.

Captain America became a leader in the Avengers and fought off what became known as, "The Battle of New York". After winning the conflict, the Avengers went to get Shawarma at a restaurant called, "Shawarma Palace".

The Winter Soldier[]

Around 2014, Captain America found that HYDRA continued to survive through SHIELD and aimed to become a shadow government. This brought cap into conflict with HYDRA assassin, "The Winter Soldier", who in actuality was the long lost Bucky Barnes, brainwashed, infused with his own super-soldier serum, and given a robotic arm. In the fallout of this incident, HYDRA openly resurged but was chased into hiding.

Battle of Sokovia[]

Around 2015, Howard's son and fellow Avengers leader Tony "Iron Man" Stark decided to make a proto-fascist artificial-intelligence called, "Ultron" to monitor humanity to protect the world. This A.I. went evil almost immediately and decided to try and wipe out humanity to, "Save the World". Ultron's plan was to life the capitol city of the Eastern-European country Sokovia and drop it like a meteor. Ultron's plan was ultimately stopped by the Avengers and the resulting damage was devastating to the people of Sokovia.

Avengers Campus[]

In 2016, Tony Stark began the Worldwide Avengers Initiative which included turning an old SHIELD mobile base into the Super Hero Academy. Captain America attended the opening day ceremony in early November and became professor of the Core Curriculum class Teamwork 101. Captain America was also interviewed and quoted on the school's opening by journalist Robbie Robertson of New York's newspaper, The Daily Bugle.

In 2019, Tony Stark turned Howard's old Stark Industrial Complex in Orange, California into, "Avengers Campus California". This was a superhero base which Steve was active in. Around the time the campus was open, Steve passed on the title of, "Captain America" to his ally Sam Wilson. Steve would also be active in Avengers Campus Paris where Tony left him in charge of an old secret headquarters for the SSR which Peggy Carter worked out of, and also where Steve was known to train with other superheroes.
