History[]
Background[]
Asgard is an ancient realm involved in invading, "The Nine Realms", primarily under rulership of Odin. On one instance, Odin's war agains the frost giants lead to him adopting Laufey's son Loki as his own, to be raised alongside his biological son Thor. Asgard's interactions with the ancient human world inspired the creation of the Norse gods.
Battle of New York[]
Loki grew up to be a cunning and overly ambitious magic-user with goals of conquering the realms. One of Loki's earlier schemes involved manipulating Odin into exiling Thor to Earth, attempting to usurp Odin, and sending Asgard's robotic enforcer, "The Destroyer" to fight Thor on Earth. Loki's schemes were foiled by Thor before Loki disappeared and joined forces with the Mad Titan, Thanos.
In 2012, Loki lead a Chitauri army against Earth to try and conquer the planet and steal a powerful artifact known as the Tesseract. During this time, he was equipped himself with a sceptre containing an Infinity Stone, gifted to him by Thanos. This resulted in the Battle of New York which caused the Thor to be involved in the formation of the Avengers and Loki's arrest. Following his defeat at the hands of the Avengers, Loki was imprisoned below the palace of Asgard. Loki would also be considered one of the most wanted super-criminals in the data-base of SHIELD.
Dark Elves attack[]
After these events, Odin arranged for an exhibit on Asgardian culture to be held in the Expo Centre of Tomorrowland in California to promote peace between the realms. This exhibit was curated by Thor's lover, Dr. Jane Foster.
