Scott Lang is a superhero, known as the second Ant-Man.

History[]

Origins[]

Scott Lang was a professional thief and father to one Cassie Lang, who was sent to prison for robbing the tech company Vistacorp. He became hired by industrialist/former super-hero Hank "Ant-Man" Pym to assist him in stealing tech from his own company and fighting evil rivals. Hank equipped Scott with an Ant-Man suit and, "PYM Particle" shrinking tech to do this. As Ant-Man, Scott would become a member of the Avengers and fight alongside Hank's daughter Hope van Dyne, the second Wasp.

Stark Expo[]

Around 2010, Scott and Hope attended the Stark Expo in Hong Kong. Here, the expo was attacked by the forces of HYDRA, lead by Arnim Zola with an army of Hydraswarm-bots. Ant-Man and the Wasp shrunk down to stop Zola's nano-bots from stealing a valuable Data Core while Iron Man fought Zola's robots in the skies. They were assisted by SHIELD who deployed deputized members armed with EMP Blasters in shrunken-down Defense/Assault Ground Rovers. Ultimately, Ant-Man and the Wasp were successful in defeating Zola.

Avengers Campus[]

The attack on Stark Expo inspired Tony Stark to create superhero outposts across the world. One of these was the Super Hero Academy, established in the November of 2016 from a repurposed SHIELD base where Scott taught on the Quantum Realm.

Avengers Campus California[]

Tony would go on to establish another outpost called Avengers Campus in Orange, California. The campus was made from an old Stark Industries settlement which already included a base for PYM Tech. Cassie moved to the campus where she joined the Worldwide Engineering Brigade and was inspired by her father's fight with HYDRA to use Pym Particles to grow and shrink food to end world-hunger.

Scott assisted Cassie in testing out her idea by converting the Pym Tech base into the, "PYM Test Kitchen" restaurant. Cassie would also use WEB to augment Ant Man and the Wasp's technology. Scott would supply WEB with Pym Particles, resulting in an incident where the members of WEB destroyed one of Howard Stark's old labs, and Iron Man forced Scott to help clean up. Cassie also invited Scott and Hope to attend her tech demo at WEB's Open House, though this was seemingly ruined by Peter Parker's presentation before her.

In the region, Scott found a miniature fairgrounds used by insects called, "Flik's Fun Fair". Scott asked Hank Pym if they could enlarge the fair but Hank refused, so instead they placed it within a PYM Tech terrarium. Around this time, Scott was invited to the travelling fortress of the Collector, Taneleer Tivan, who stated that he liked Scott's ideas and wanted to discuss them over, "Sakaaran Cold Brew". It was likely that this was a trap set up by the Collector though the outcome of this incident is unknown.

At some point, Ant-Man was part of an Avengers fight against the Mad Titan, Thanos. Following this battle, it became a circulated speculation that Scott could have easily ended the battle by shrinking himself, entering Thanos' anus, and enlarging himself to Giant Man size.

Quantum Encounter[]

Ant-Man and the Wasp would show of Pym Tech Quantum Cores used for food purposed aboard the Disney Wish. Here, Scott Lang accidentally temporarily shrunk the ship before they restored it to normal. Aboard this ship, they encountered Sam Wilson AKA Captain America who notified them of strange energy signals which turned out to be the ship being attacked by Ultron, seeking their quantum tech to wipe out humanity.

Amidst this incident, Scott was video-called by Tony Stark, requesting assistance in warding off a wave of Kree missiles being launched at the Earth. Scott refused due to being in the middle of fighting Ultron, then hung-up. Ultron confronted Ant-Man in his lab and fused with a Quantum Core's regulator as a power source. Ant-Man proceeded to slow down Ultron behind an energy-shield barrier. Using F.R.I.D.AY., Ant-Man was able to weaponize the regulator against Ultron, shrinking him down to a quantum level and foiling his plans.

After this, Ant-Man and the Wasp went to meet with attendees of the dinner, thanking them for their assistance (despite them having just sat there and eaten).

Trivia[]

  • In Nano Battle, Ant-Man uses the expression, "Honey, I shrunk the kids" when shrinking guests. This is a tribute to the film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) which was notably adapted into the attraction Honey, I Shrunk the Audience in Tomorrowland, Discoveryland and EPCOT's Imagination! Pavilion.
  • Wasp and Ant-Man sometimes carries around a shrunken version of Flik's Fun Fair, the setting for the defunct A Bug's Land which predicated Avengers Campus in California.[5][6]
  • Scott and Hope's Avengers technology showcase is called, "Miracles From Molecules", named for the theme-song of defunct Tomorrowland attraction Adventure Thru Inner Space. An instrumental of this theme-song plays.
